WITNEY Town Council will elect its next leader on Monday evening.

Councillors are set to decide who will fill the role until May at a full council meeting at Witney Town Hall at 7pm.

The vote comes after ex-leader Dean Temple resigned from the role in October, citing 'work commitments'.

Days earlier, a vote of no confidence against Mr Temple had been submitted by south ward councillor Jane Doughty and seconded by Witney deputy mayor Howard Chirgwin, although this was cancelled before he resigned.

The motion related to tweets sent from Mr Temple's account following the last full council meeting on October 8.
