A HOMELESS cat could be in the running for next year’s John Lewis Christmas advert after posting a video online.

Arthur, the black and white tuxedo cat, was scouted by the brand after Cherwell Cats Protection posted a video on Twitter of the kitty getting pampered.

The Bicester-based rescue charity said: “Never mind the @Jlandpartners Xmas Ad #EltonJohnLewis this is the video you’ve been waiting for.”

It was posted on Twitter the day before the hotly anticipated John Lewis advert, which has become famous over the past few years, and reached some 43,000 people online.

The video showed Arthur being brushed by his fosterer after having a bath and a blow dry.

In a surprise response for the charity, the team at John Lewis tweeted a reply to the video and said: “Arthur’s looking great! Maybe he could apply for next year’s ad.”

The charity said it never expected to get a response from the store and was pleasantly surprised.

Arthur is with the charity after being brought in as homeless and is still looking for his forever home.

The moggy is thought to be around three years old and had been awaiting a dental procedure before being homed.
