A PETITION is being created to try to save an Oxford sports shop that has been trading for more than 100 years.
Elmer Cotton Sports in Turl Street will close next month, continuing solely online due to rising rent and falling sales.
When the decision was announced in September, owner Judith Barrows said the closure of the store would be a 'sad day and the end of an era', and urged people to embrace independent shops.
She said: “They need you to survive and thrive. Oxford needs to know that you want your city to remain one of history, community and independence.”
Oxford University student Julian Manieson is organising a petition under #saveoursports to try to preserve the piece of the city's sporting history.
