YOUNG brainboxes put their minds to the test at a regional heat for an international literature test.
Hundreds of pupils aged from 10 to 13 crammed into Cokethorpe School near Witney today for the Oxfordshire and Berkshire heat of The Kids Lit Quiz UK.
Teams of four students had to answer 100 questions on children’s literature divided into ten categories, including poetry, authors and nursery rhymes.
Eight authors attended to support the youngsters as well as Witney mayor Brenda Churchill and Oxfordshire County Council leader Ian Hudspeth.
Several local schools competed for a place in the national final which will be held in London on December 4.
The UK winners will compete in Singapore next summer.
