OXFORD'S Botanic Garden will host an 'enchanting' Christmas fair this weekend.

The historic site off High Street will open up for two days for its annual festive event.

The fair will be staged across the area with guests being offered the opportunity to enjoy the garden and everything going on within it.

A marquee will host stalls selling handcrafted gifts and stocking fillers, the garden will be magically lit and artisan street food sellers will offer meals from venison to wild boar burgers.

Visitors are also being invited to explore the elegance of the Herbarium, which contains 234 individual botanic prints, and browse Christmas cards and gifts from the collections of the Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Library.

Drinks on offer include gin from The Oxford Artisan Distillery and botanically-spiced mulled wine.

Live musical performances will take place on Saturday from 11am until 1pm when the City of Oxford Silver Band will entertain the crowds and from 2pm until 4pm when Horns of Plenty will take to the stage.

On Sunday band Cry Havoc will play from noon until 1.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £3.50 concessions and free entry for children under 16.

The fair is open from 10am until 6pm on Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
