CRIES of 'clothes are not consent' rang loudly through Oxford's city centre yesterday at a student protest against a 'victim blaming culture'.

Oxford University students stood in solidarity in Cornmarket Street for the 'lacy underwear flash' in protest of an Irish rape trial that happened earlier this month.

Oxford Mail:

The trial saw a defence lawyer provide the victim's thong as evidence with which to defend her client.

Organising the protest, Bryony Streets, a first year English Literature student previously said the objective was to raise awareness of 'victim blaming and sexual assault in general'.

Oxford Mail:

More than 50 people joined the protest some wearing just their underwear under coats, while others tied a string of underwear across the street and attached them to signs, to make a stand.

They held signs that said 'Boys will be Boys.. held accountable' and 'no means no'.
