EXTRA buses will be laid on for the Oxford United Boxing day game against Southend United, as well as to cater to Westgate shoppers.

Oxford Bus Company will put on a special X90 service between Oxford and London to coincide with a busy Boxing Day.

It will run every hour and it is hoped it will alleviate the crush for both shoppers and football fans.

The 300 service will also run every 15 minutes and the 400 service every 20 minutes for most the day.

Oxford Bus Company managing director Phil Southall said: “Boxing Day is a busy day and with the continued success of the Westgate, Oxford, along with sales in London and a full set of football fixtures we felt it important to provide a strong service again.

“We will be operating a special timetable on our Park & Ride, City and X90 service.”

For Christmas day the bus company will have its festive airline services running between Oxford, Heathrow and Gatwick. The City, BROOKESbus, Park & Ride and X90 services will not operate.

On New Year’s Eve the X90 Oxford to London service will have additional late journeys for revellers bringing in the New Year in the capital.

Outside of these days, from December 27 onwards, all services will operate to Saturday timetables, with full services resuming January 2.
