CAR thieves smashed their way into the back of a house to snatch car keys to an Audi.

Police said the thieves smashed the glass patio doors to the back of a house in Five Mile Drive, North Oxford.

It happened on Friday between 9.30am and 6.40pm, police say.

Thieves reached through the broken glass in the patio doors to get hold of a door key.

By using the key to unlock the door, they were able to get inside to ransack the house.

During the raid, a set of car keys was stolen for an Audi S5, which was parked on the drive.

It is grey and has the registration number RV17 T**.

It is the latest in a series of burglaries in North Oxford.
