TWO men needed hospital treatment after a pair of 'vicious' and 'unprovoked' attacks that started in a Wantage Indian restaurant.

At around 6.30pm on Wednesday the first victim, a man in his forties, was assaulted in House of Spice, Mill Street.

He was punched by a large man, described as in his forties and between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 11ins, wearing a light top and blue jeans.

The victim had to be taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with an injured hand.

Just minutes later, a second man in his forties was assaulted in Mill Street by the first attacker and two other men.

He was punched and kicked to the floor and also had to be taken to hospital with an ankle injury.

It is believed all three attackers then left the area in a white van.

Police are appealing for witnesses to either assault, which they are investigating as grievous bodily harm incidents.

Investigating officer PC Carly Meads based at Abingdon police station, said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on both victims, who had to receive hospital treatment for their injuries.
