PLANS for a 3,000-home garden village in West Oxfordshire have been withdrawn with immediate effect.
The 'Barnard Gate Garden Village' was set to be built south of South Leigh, near Witney, by housing developer Gladman.
But project manager Rob Black confirmed the application would be withdrawn in an email this morning.
The application included proposals for a science or business park, two new primary schools, a medical centre and pharmacy, play areas and improvements to the A40.
South Leigh residents criticised the plans earlier this year, saying the new homes would 'decimate' the surrounding area.
