A WOMAN claimed one of her own email addresses belonged to her landlord in a misleading social housing application.
Jeanette Just, 31, of Black Bourton Road, Carterton, was prosecuted for making false representations in connection with her housing application after pleading guilty at Oxford Magistrates Court on October 23.
Miss Just applied for social housing declaring she was not in rent arrears and gave an email address she claimed was for her landlord, so West Oxfordshire District Council could verify her tenancy circumstances.
But the council discovered Miss Just had not given them her landlady’s email address, but one she managed herself.
It was also discovered Miss Just was being evicted due to rent arrears of more than £7,000.
A person evicted due to rent arrears is considered intentionally homeless and therefore their social housing application would not proceed, with support to find alternative private accommodation offered instead.
Miss Just received a £100 fine and was ordered to pay a contribution of £250 towards the council’s legal costs.
