STUDENTS have been urged to 'take precautions' after an outbreak of mumps at Oxford University.
University College has confirmed that one student has been diagnosed with the contagious infection, which was common prior to the introduction of the MMR vaccine.
But the college has advised students with symptoms to stay in their rooms, have food left outside their doors and to be picked up by parents.
Serious complications are rare, but the virus can lead to meningitis.
An outbreak involving more students was reported in May 2017.
