A SOCIAL media post advertising a raucous Halloween rave in Witney has prompted a stern warning from police.

The invitation, shared on Instagram, encourages 'everyone' to turn up at a Halloween party in Madley Park on Wednesday and bring 'fireworks, flares, masks, smoke bombs, speakers and alcohol'.

An image, allegedly a screenshot of the post, was shared on the Madley Park Residents' Association page on Facebook.

It warns party-goers be 'ready to run from fed' (the police) and 'get bare ppl' to come.

The post also urged revellers to 'egg as much as you can' and help to 'turn Madley wavy'.

Oxford Mail:

The post was reported to Thames Valley Police and officers have now also taken to social media, urging youngsters to be respectful of neighbours and the elderly.

Posting on the force's West Oxfordshire Twitter page this afternoon, officers said: "The police are aware of a social media post regarding a Halloween party at Madley Park that is being organised on 31.10.18.

"We want young people to enjoy Halloween however if you are looking to cause a nuisance to residents and the elderly, the police will deal with you robustly!"

Commenting on the residents' association post on Facebook, one resident wrote: "Hope the police turn up and put a stop to this mayhem."

At the start of this month police were called to break up a party on the Burwell estate in Witney, after which several teenagers were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
