TWO teenagers suffered serious injuries when a car careered off the road and crashed into a tree near Uffington in the early hours of this morning.

Police said a 17-year-old girl was in a critical condition with 'life-threatening injuries', while an 18-year-old man suffered 'life-changing injuries' in the smash on the B4507 in Kingston Lisle at around 1am.

The pair, who were travelling in the back of a silver Ford Focus, were both taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The driver, a 27-year-old man, and front-seat passenger, a 17-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses of the crash, which happened as the car was driving along the tree-lined rural road towards the junction with Blowingstone Hill.

No arrests have been made.

Investigating officer PC Julia Stroud, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, based at Bicester, said: “I am asking anyone who saw this vehicle, or a vehicle fitting this description prior to the collision to contact the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43180328905.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, the manner of the vehicle’s driving prior to the collision, and anybody who may have dash-cam footage.

Police were called at 1.06am, within seconds of the crash taking place at 1.05am.
