Didcot Town are set to give a debut to defender Richard Peirson (pictured) after snapping him up from Southern League rivals Abingdon United. Peirson, 30, played more than 250 games for the Division 1 South & West outfit after joining from Oxford City, and is added to the squad for tomorrow's home game against Hillingdon Borough.

"It's a fresh challenge," said Peirson, who played more than 250 games for Abingdon after signing from Oxford City.

"I helped out on the coaching side, but I am going over there as a player.

"I am looking forward to it."

Abingdon boss Andy Slater was sad to lose Peirson, who had spells at Slough, Thame United and Chesham.

"I think he just needs a new start," said Slater, whose outfit travel to leaders Burnham tomorrow.

"He's been a fantastic servant. But he feels he has gone a bit stale. We are disappointed he is going, but we have got enough strength in the squad."

Didcot manager Stuart Peace added: "Going out of the FA Cup last weekend was a major disappointment for us," said Peace. "But having Richard here will give everyone a lift. He has a wealth of experience."

Didcot will be without injured trio Paul Powell, Matty Jack and Scott Davis, while Abingdon welcome back James Organ from injury and Ryan Brooks from suspension.

Oxford City player-manager Justin Merritt wants his side to forget next weekend's FA Cup home tie when they host Windsor & Eton.

City beat the Premier Division side 4-2 to set up a home game against Weston- super-Mare.

But Merritt said: "We can't live in the past. I was delighted, but the league is what it's all about. We need to stay up there."

Banbury United are without Ben Milner (unavailable), Sam Ibrahim (groin) and Matt Murphy (calf) when they host Bedford Town in the Premier Division.

Matt Dixon (groin) is a doubt.

Manager Keiran Sullivan is looking for his side to get back to winning ways after last weekend's 4-1 FA Cup home defeat. We had a good talk," said Sullivan.

"I think they need to have a bit more belief in themselves. I'm looking for a positive response."
