Ridents in the Warwick Street area of Oxford are complaining that the recycling bins are left on garden paths, making it difficult for residents to get in and out of their homes (Oxford Mail, September 14).

What a shame - at least the bins are being returned to the properties.

At Blackbird Leys, residents have to search for their bins and green sacks. It seems that as long as they are somewhere near, it's OK to leave them.

I believe the problem is that the crews still enjoy the 'job and finish'.

I have no complaint about this, but to attain that title, the job should be done properly in the first place.

If not, the whole crew should be forced to return to the area and complete the job they are paid to do.

Jean Fooks, the city council's executive member for a cleaner city, should take the bull by the horns and sort out this mess before residents start to think: "Why recycle, just dump the lot because the city council doesn't care."
