A YOUNG Scout group is appealing for volunteers to help organise events and meetings.

The North Banbury Beaver Colony, which celebrated its third anniversary earlier this month, is on the lookout for new people to join the growing group and is especially keen to hear from adults willing to give a few hours a week.

Beavers, the section of Scouts for six to eight year olds, is open to children from all backgrounds, faiths and abilities.

The North Banbury Colony has about 20 children from local villages, and meets in Mollington on Wednesday evenings for fun and educational activities.

The success of the colony has increased the amount of preparation and organisation required and group leader Jan Beaumont is now on the lookout for more helpers.

She said: "Volunteering is hugely rewarding and great fun.

"Volunteers don't need to have a child in Scouting, or even be a parent - and wearing a uniform is optional.

"Anyone able to give just a couple of hours on a regular basis will make a massive difference."

Mrs Beaumont added: "Volunteers come from all walks of life and many end up learning skills themselves that they are able to use in their daily lives."

Adults who would like to volunteer or want more information should contact Mrs Beaumont on 01295 770827.

Parents who would like their children to join can also get in touch using the same number.
