Letter sent to the Oxford Mail -
Thanks to my helpers
On Monday I was driving home in the outside lane of Headington High Street when my car came to a halt and could not be restarted. That road is always busy, and it was then the start of the rush hour, so the situation would have been very difficult for anyone, but for me, being in my 90s, it was extremely so.
Fortunately, my plight was noticed by members of staff at Connells Estate Agents, 129-131 Headington Road, and two of them came at once to help me. They held up the traffic, and managed to push my car into the safety of a side street. They then escorted me into their showroom to offer me a drink and a comfortable place to sit until the AA arrived.
You will understand how perilous my situation would have been without their most generous and intelligent action. So I want to make my gratitude known to others.
AIDAN MACKEY Old Headington
