POLICE are appealing for information and witnesses to a number of small fires this month, mainly in the skate park in Waddesdon.

Each incident is being treated as arson.

The most recent and serious incident took place on Sunday between 5pm and 6.45pm on the High Street, Waddesdon, when a plant pot near to the front door of a house was set on fire.

There was no damage to the property but potentially the fire could have spread to the house.

On Wednesday, September 12, at about 9.45pm in the skate park, equipment was set alight and the fire caused extensive damage.

Again in the skate park, a Crimestoppers sign was destroyed by being set alight on Tuesday last week at about 10pm.

Two signs were stolen from lampposts in Chestnut Close on Sunday, September 9, between 10.30pm and 7.30am and it is believed one of the signs stolen was one discovered in the skate park.

Police Community Support Officer for Waddesdon, Ian Ledger, said: "There has been a disturbing increase in anti-social behavior in Waddesdon and I am urging the public to be vigilant.

"If anyone is seen acting suspiciously or if you have any information please contact the police so we can put a stop to these incidents before any serious damage is caused or anyone is seriously injured."

PCSO Ledger can be reached via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505 or, if you don't want to talk to police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
