POLICE will be at The Oxfordshire County & Thame Show tomorrow giving road safety advice.

The team of five, led by Sgt Chris Appleby, will be at the event offering advice on road safety to the expected tens of thousands of visitors. As well as offering eyesight checks and testing people's reaction times, there will be a crashed car on display and the opportunity for both adults and children to take part in road safety competitions.

Sgt Chris Appleby, said: "Thames Valley Police are really pleased to have a stand at the show, and this is the first year the new Road Safety Team have gone along to offer advice.

"The Thame Show has always been a great day out for the family and we are proud to be able to exhibit there and hopefully get across the very important message of road safety. If you are visiting the show on Thursday, please pop along and see us."

The Safer Roads Partnership Team is dedicated to improving safety on our roads and reducing casualties. Officers carry out a wide range of duties and operations with partner agencies to target specific problems, such as drivers using their mobile phones. Each Basic Command Unit has access to their own Road Safety Constable, trained and equipped to provide specialist advice and support to the local officers.

The Oxfordshire and Thame County Show is one of the country's oldest agricultural shows and has been running for more than 130 years.

The show features a wide range of events and displays, including pet competitions, trade stands, craft fair and show jumping.
