THE M40 has reopened this morning, 14 hours after a crash involving a caravan travelling the wrong way, which resulted in hours of tailbacks.

However, there were still heavy delays on both carriageways this morning.

And another crash on the same stretch also caused more problems.

A lorry and a Toyota crashed on the approach to the queue, with the damaged car initially stuck in the outside lane.

But delays have now cleared and the road is back to normal.

Following yesterday's serious incident, police had already reopened the southbound carriageway, but resurfacing work meant that the northbound carriageway remained closed until just before 7am.
