PLATE spinning and tightrope walking were perfected by pupils at circus workshops.

Harwell Primary School near Didcot held an entire day of circus activities yesterday, with help from performers at Circus Sensible.

Headteacher Bryn Gibson said it was 'tremendous fun' and reiterated the school's values of resilience, resourcefulness, responsibility and respect.

He said: "What better way of promoting those ideas and developing healthy, active children than having a circus workshop all day? Especially when the weather was so amazing.

"At Harwell, we enjoy having visitors to showcase their skills and inspire children to try new challenges to be the best learner they can.

"These are important qualities to support their everyday learning and develop the skills needed for an ever-changing future."

Pupils watched a 'big top' show staged by performers then took part in workshops.
