IN a report published on October 3 titled ‘Guilty of “savage” gang killing’ the Oxford Mail wrote that one of the men convicted – Saffon Fakir, had “gone to the scene of the murder just minutes after Mr Lemonius was left for dead in a bid to seize weapons and hide any evidence of the attack.”

In fact, Fakir – who was convicted of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, never attended the alleyway or house at Jourdain Road where Christopher Lemonius was murdered.

The court was told during the trial that his co-defendant Alfie Simms had taken a taxi towards the murder scene and was filmed on CCTV passing Pegasus Road, near to Blackbird Leys park where the incident had started.

Shortly afterwards Fakir’s Renault Clio was seen parked at Pegasus Road before driving in convoy with another vehicle back to an address in Littlemore.

Prosecutor Stuart Trimmer QC said that Fakir and others discussed what to do about the murder and planned an attempted ‘cover-up’.

The Oxford Mail is happy to set the record straight.

Fakir and the four men convicted of murder - Rashaun Stoute, 24, of Church Cowley Road, Oxford, Otman Lamzini, 25, of Jourdain Road, Oxford, Carlos Spencer, 27, of Wynbush Road, Oxford and Conner Woodward, 25, of Haldane Road, Oxford, as well as Yasine Lamzini, 20, of Jourdain Road, Oxford, found guilty of manslaughter will all be sentenced on Friday.
