OXFORD will enjoy soaring temperatures this week as summer makes a late re-appearance.

The city could see highs of 22C on Wednesday with hot weather returning throughout the week.

Forecasters believe the temperatures could be the highest seen in the UK in October in the last 40 years.

The best days of the week will be Tuesday and Wednesday which will be sunny and warm.

Today it will be slightly cooler but still sunny with periods of cloud.

Later in the week, on Thursday and Friday, there will be spotted showers before rain fully sets in for the weekend.

But people will be able to dust off their barbeques mid-week after the last few days of very low temperatures.
