ONE charity helped another this week as Cowley Road's Refresh cafe hosted a coffee morning for Macmillan.

The cafe is run by charity Turning Point, which helps people with drug and alcohol abuse, as well as mental mental health problems and learning difficulties, transform their lives.

Volunteer co-ordinator Sarah Charlett said: "Many of the people who work at the shop are recovering themselves and it really came from them to do this for Macmillan.

"I think everyone knows someone who has been impacted by cancer and that was why it was so important."

With cakes baked by volunteer Gemma Burgess, the event proved so popular fundraising was extended from a morning-only event to the whole day.

It was part of Macmillan's biggest annual money-raising campaign, which sees thousands of people across the UK hold coffee mornings.
