THIS vivid snap of a fiery sunset was taken by Minster Lovell resident Paul Woodley from his bedroom window.

Sharing the snap with the Oxford Mail, he said: "I couldn't resist using my new Cannon camera to get a shot of the sky on Sunday.

"I've never seen a sunset quite like it before."

The sky is painted in shades of bright orange, with the clouds adding texture to the image.

Silhouettes of trees and bushes in the foreground, meanwhile, provide a sense of depth.

The 66-year-old said he is spending his retirement indulging in his passion for photography, recently upgrading from a series of bridge cameras to a full DSLR - used by professional photographers due to their versatility.

He said: "I go on lots of walks now with my wife and always have either my camera or just my phone with me ready to take a picture."

The grandfather-of-six added:"It's something I've always loved doing and it is nice to have more time for it."

Anyone inspired by Mr Woodley's photographic exploits can join our Camera Club – which now has more than 800 members – by visiting facebook.com and searching for Oxford Mail Camera Club.

See Friday's paper for a double-page spread of our favourite submissions for this week's 'autumn' theme.

Some that have stood out so far include images of dogs enjoying playing among fallen leaves and picturesque landscape shots of countryside transformed into shades of orange and red.

We have especially enjoyed the range of snaps depicting traditional signs of the changing seasons from ripening pumpkins to shiny conkers.

This week’s winner of £25, sponsored by Jessops, will appear in the following days edition.

Happy snapping!
