AN OXFORDSHIRE postcode has been listed among the 'most notable fallers' for house prices in the south east.

An analysis of the latest Land Registry data by website Propdex.co.uk found that OX11 has seen sales rise but prices fall over the last six months. 

This year has seen 469 homes sold in the area - which includes much of Didcot as well as surrounding villages such as Harwell, Blewbury and East Hagbourne. 

This represents a 7.3 per cent year on year rise but at the same time prices for the homes have fallen. 

On average buyers spent £304,644 in OX11 - a drop of 6.1 per cent compared to last year.

The fall represented the sixth steepest decline in the south east, after postcodes in Kent, Surrey, Windsor and Berkshire.

OX11 has seen unprecedented development in recent years with the arrival of the 3,300 home Great Western Park - one of a number of large estates being constructed. 

Elsewhere in the county OX16, which covers Banbury, also made the list of top selling postcodes in the south east. 

There were 400 sales in this area in the last six months - a 4.3 per cent decline year on year. 

These sold for an average price of £245,265, a 4.2 per cent rise. 

Propdex.co.uk said the overall national picture was one of falling sales.
