RESIDENTS could hear up to five 'audible popping sounds' today as work continues to demolish Didcot A power station.
Owner RWE has advised the noises are part of onsite tests being carried out as part of 'ongoing demolition activities.'
In July a plan to complete the demolition of the power station, which was turned off in 2013, was unveiled.
The site is being cleared of smaller buildings ahead of the demolition of the towers and chimney, which is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
The original plan was to have the site cleared by the end of 2017 but this was delayed by the collapse of a boiler house in 2016, which killed four workers, and the subsequent lengthy police investigation.
Didcot A, a coal-fired power station, operated for 43 years and a gas-burning power station - known as Didcot B - continues to operate.
