AN ENERGY firm has chosen Oxford for its new headquarters.

Trust Power is opening the new base at Albion House in Littlegate Street as it prepares to launch in 2019.

The company is creating data-powered technology to save households and businesses money on their total electricity bills, to increase their control over energy use and, in so doing, to reduce their carbon footprint.

The investment, partly prompted by Oxford’s ambition to become a low carbon city by 2020, will see the company look to hire a range of roles including digital specialists and project managers.

Simon Stocks, head of marketing at Trust Power, said: “Oxford was an obvious choice for us. “We’re building a new technology solution that allows consumers to be smarter about how they use electricity, saving money and reducing carbon emissions in the process.

“This aligns well with Oxford’s ambition to become a low carbon city by 2020.

“Oxford is also a great place in which to find the highly-skilled specialists that we need.”

The Trust Power team in Oxford includes specialists in data science, energy systems, software development and product management, and the business is recruiting staff across these and other areas, building a team to launch innovations in personal energy management.

Founder of Trust Power Roy Bedlow said: “We are delighted to be basing ourselves in Oxford - a vibrant, innovative and environmentally-conscious city. “
