THREE teenagers have been released under investigation after an axe-wielding group attempted to rob a convenience store in southern Oxfordshire.

Police say that a group of males hit the counter with an axe 'a number of times' during the attempted robbery on Grove's Premier store. 

The Saville Way shop was targeted on Monday at about 8.35pm, when the group - also brandishing a 'long bladed weapon' demanded money before leaving, according to police.

No one was injured during the incident and the group left the store without taking anything.

A 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Darren Little said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information relating to it.

“If you have any details which you think could help our investigation, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency on 101.”
