A SWORD, scissors and a meat cleaver were among the items collected at Oxfordshire police stations this month as part of a week-long knife amnesty.

All forces in England and Wales took part in the crackdown, codenamed Operation Sceptre, last week which saw people able to surrender knives into bins at police stations across Oxfordshire.

Thames Valley Police shared a picture of more than 100 knives handed over at Abingdon station during the campaign.

Other locations included Banbury station, where 30 knives were collected including a sword and scissors, Oxford station and TVP headquarters in Kidlington.

All knives were surrendered anonymously, with no names taken and no CCTV cameras recording.
