BUMPER Bouffants, wire-entwined wigs and outrageous up-dos will battle it out to impress an Oxfordshire hairdresser in TV's Extreme Hair Wars.

Salon owner Anne Veck, who has shops in St Clement's, Oxford, and Crown Walk, Bicester, will star as a judge on the latest 5STAR series.

The show will see gravity-defying hairstyles created by a team of stylists before being put under scrutiny by Ms Veck and her fellow judges.

Professional hair stylists will be battling it out for the title of Extreme Hair Wars champion 2018.

Ms Veck, who has recently been shortlisted for the 2018/ 19 International Hairdresser of the Year award, said: “I watched the first series of the show and was really impressed with the creativity and technical skill, so I am excited to get started with the new role."

The Oxfordshire salon owner will be joined as a judge by creative director of Strangeways Salon Martyn Holmes.

Presenter and comedian London Hughes will host the show in which each episode will feature four stylists plus a make-up artist competing in challenges designed to show of creative skills.

The new series of Extreme Hair Wars will start tonight on 5STAR at 9pm. It is expected to include outlandish designs including a new variation on the man-bun, a samurai-inspired creation and hairstyles that incorporate chicken wire and metal into their creative designs.

Ms Veck added: "I hope that the new series will help shine a spotlight on the huge number of talented hairdressers in the UK, as well as inspiring the next generation to look at this fantastic industry in a new light."

The Oxfordshire hairdresser has recently revamped the two salons to make them 'eco-friendly' and the Oxford branch was said to be the first in the world to use BlueGenCeramic fuel cell technology which converts gas to electricity.

It also heats water as well as the building, helping to reduce the salons energy use by half.
