OXFORDSHIRE'S Lord Lieutenant Hugo Brunner will demonstrate his green principles today by arriving at a village food festival by bicycle.
Mr Brunner will travel by train to Kings Sutton, then pedal the six miles to Deddington where he will officially open the Farmers' Market and Food Festival - which coincides with the start of British Food Fortnight.
Geoff Todd, farmer's market co-ordinator, said: "The food festival idea came from the interest shown by local food outlets who buy products from the farmer's market for their menus or to sell in their shops.
"The market has a good reputation for its variety of produce, and local businesses have benefited from the influx of extra shoppers on market days.
"We are jointly celebrating the best of locally-produced food at our already well-known eating places and food outlets."
Caterer Tanya Young will create dishes from produce that can be bought from the stalls.
Children will be encouraged to try their hand at cooking with Sue Shattock, who organised 'Ready Deddy Cook' at the market in previous years.
