A CITY Council meeting will today decide on a partner developer for a multi-million pound renovation of Blackbird Leys some three years after the project was first proposed.

The city executive board is expected to approve ‘the selection of the preferred development partner’ for the Oxford development at a town hall session from 5pm.

A decision on who to work with on ambitious changes to the district centre – including the creation of homes, a community centre and shopping precinct - were postponed earlier this summer, with three possible developers being considered.

Up to 300 new homes are earmarked as part of the regeneration and £3.75million in government funding was secured in February for infrastructure to support the new builds, which were originally scheduled to be completed in 2025.

Also on the agenda at the meeting are plans to consult the public on potential changes to the council tax reduction scheme for 2019/20.

A recommendation has been made that the board agree that proposals for the scheme be subject to public consultation for an eight week period from 24 September 2018.

Elsewhere, the council is expected to increase contribution sizes to the Environment Agency for the Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme.

It is also set to approve the Wolvercote Neighbourhood Plan, moving it on to consultation stage.

Members of public are welcome to sit in on the meeting.
