OXFORD City conceded in stoppage time to suffer a third-straight league defeat when going down 2-1 at home to Bath City.

Joe Raynes smashed home from close range in the 92nd minute to deny Mark

Jones’s side a point at Court Place Farm after Josh Ashby had equalised.

City started the Vanarama National League South clash brightly, with Kabongo Tshimanga drilling an early effort wide.

The striker continued to cause problems and on 20 minutes he resisted a challenge from Robbie Cundy, before firing into the side netting.

City goalkeeper Craig King was called into action on 39 minutes, getting down well to keep out Ross Stearn’s long-distance effort.

The hosts created the first opportunity of the second half, but Matt Paterson could only shoot weakly at former Oxford United stopper Ryan Clarke.

Midfielder Ashby then went close for City on the hour mark, only to see his free-kick hit the side netting.

However, they fell behind just three minutes later when Adam Mann headed home past King.

City, though, were not behind for long.

Ashby received the ball 30 yards out and unleashed a shot which deflected past Clarke, who could only parry the ball into the net.

Bath went close to regaining the lead moments later when another former United player Sean Rigg headed wide.

King then kept City in the contest on 74 minutes, superbly denying Ryan Brunt from close range.

But he was unable to prevent what turned out to be the match-winner in the second minute of stoppage time when Raynes fired home a loose ball from close range.
