A £100,000 jewellery smash and grab from Pandora is the latest in a long line of daring heists to hit Oxford's city centre.

The Pandora shop in Cornmarket Street was targeted by a gang of five burglars who forced their way in at 12am yesterday morning. (14/9)

Thames Valley Police estimate around £100,000 of jewellery was stashed into green waste bags before the group fled via the roof.

Oxford Mail:

The heist comes after a string of similar burglaries which have plagued jewellers including Goldsmiths in Oxford in recent years.

Both city centre branches have been targeted numerous times with thousands of pounds worth of watches stolen.

A Rolex watch worth more than £10,000 was stolen from the Westgate branch in a raid, on July 28, and a teenager has been charged in connection with the incident.

The 16-year old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was expected to appear before Oxford Magistrates Court on Wednesday but his case was adjourned.

Oxford Mail:

On the same day, in a separate incident, staff confirmed that two Tag Heuer watches - were snatched from the Clarendon Centre branch of Goldsmiths.

It is not known how much the two items were worth but Tag Heuer watches start at about £1,000 up to as much as £15,000 each.

The jewellers in the Clarendon Centre has been subject to a number of raids including one in which two men asked to try a £27,650 Rolex watch on in store, before snatching the jewellery and running off with it.

Oxford Mail:

A teenager was later convicted in connection with the theft and spared jail.

The watch was never recovered.

The most high-profile attack on the Clarendon Centre shop happened on New Year's Eve 2015 and involved 11 masked men smashing their way into the jewellery shop before making off with 'a quantity of watches'.

Oxford Mail:

Six members of a Romanian crime gang were later jailed for a total of 47 years for plotting to commit burglaries in nine counties including the goldsmith New Year's Eve raid.

Oxford Mail:

It was described as one of the most sophisticated break-ins to have taken place in the city.
