PHOTOS giving an rare insight into the weird and wonderful world of an Oxfordshire science centre have been submitted to a global competition.
Voting has been opened for the 2018 Global Physics Photowalk and images taken by scientists based in Harwell are hoping to win the top prize.
The images have been submitted by hundreds of amateur and professional photographers worldwide and shows the people, engineering and technology behind some of the world’s most cutting-edge science.
The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) are one of 17 participating laboratories which study science topics ranging from exploring the origins of the universe to better understanding how our planet’s climate works.
Each lab held their own local competition, and has now entered their top three images into the global competition.
From those images, a public online vote will choose the top three, while a panel of expert photographers and scientists will also choose their three favourites.
To see all of the images and cast a vote go to interactions.org/photowalk.
Voting closes at 08:59 on September, 16 and the winners will be publicly announced on Sunday October 1, at the international Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) annual conference in Hartford, Connecticut.
