WITH uniforms freshly washed and new stationery waiting to be used, Oxfordshire pupils are set to return to classrooms across the county.

Many workers will have been leaving home later in the mornings in the absence of school run traffic, but next week the summer break ends and usual congestion will resume.

Hundreds of pupils will go back on Tuesday in line with the county council's term dates, but some academies will have a 'inset' days (for teacher training and administration) and will not welcome youngsters until Wednesday.

Others start the new academic year on Monday, with some secondary schools staggering pupils' return to start with just the new Year 7 and new sixth-formers.

Return days for some of Oxford's biggest schools, according to their respective websites, are listed below:

- The Oxford Academy: Year 7 only back on Wednesday, most other years back on Thursday, sixth-formers (year 12 and 13) back on Friday

- St Gregory the Great Catholic School, East Oxford: Year 7 only to return on Wednesday, most other years back on Thursday, Year 12 on Friday
