SEAMLESS silky designs have been drawn up for scarves helping to raise money for a support service for people with life-limiting illnesses.

A charitable competition has breathed life into the airy scarf design to help represent Greenfields Care and Support group which works with patients and their carers through offering complementary therapies to help with side affects that illness brings.

The Silk Bureau Company hosted a competition for designs to send in their patterns that capture the work that Greenfields does in Bicester and afar.

It had also approached Greenfields – founded by Becky Fletcher, co-founder of the town's Hummingbird Centre – in a bid to help raise funds through the competition to support the not-for-profit group’s vital work.

Ms Fletcher said: “It was lovely that The Silk Bureau Company wanted to support us.

"As a small charity and them quite a big company it was great they can help.”

The design competition drew in an ‘overwhelming’ number of entries but a unanimous vote saw Leila Vibert-Stokes’ dandelion design bag the winning spot.

In her entry she said: “My design focuses on Greenfield’s chosen flower, the dandelion. A transition from deep dark colours to their signature pale green, represents the transformation and freedom one can achieve with support and help through organisations such as Greenfields.”

The judges said it was ‘a beautiful way to represent the Greenfields ethos’.

Mrs Fletcher said: “Just looking at the design it is absolutely beautiful and it just breaths Greenfields.”

Sharon Reynolds of The Silk Bureau Company added: “We were very impressed by the work and ethos of Greenfields Care and Support. Independent charity organisations such as this struggle to raise funds needed to provide such thoughtful care to those with life-limiting illnesses.”

The designs are now in the creation process.

All the proceeds will go to the charity and pay for their treatment products.

Greenfields is currently provide one to one care for people with a life-limiting illness and their main carer either at home, hospital, car homes or hospices.
