WALLINGFORD Town Council's planning committee will discuss whether to recommend an application for 170 houses to be built next week.

Berkshire developers David Wilson Homes (Southern) are attempting to get outline permission for the major development on land at Hithercroft Farm west of the South Oxfordshire town.

Alongside the building of up to 170 dwellings, the application also includes '3.1ha of employment floorspace including land for a nursery, together with car parking, open space (including formal playspace), landscaping, SuDS attenuation and new vehicular and pedestrian access from Bosley Way (A4130)'.

There is no detail on how many bedrooms proposed houses on the near-11 hectare plot will include.

The planning committee will go over the plans at a meeting on Monday, at 7pm, in Wallingford Town Hall, with a number of other applications also due to be covered.

County councillor Lynda Atkins and district councillor Elaine Hornsby are also due to attend, with the public welcome.

The consultation period for the application ends on Wednesday, September 19.
