A FESTIVAL created to help disabled young people unleash their artistic talents returns tomorrow.

The Roar Festival will bring together art, live music, wellbeing classes and stand up comedy across two packed days at Cowley's Ark T Centre - including an appearance by Britain's Got Talent 2018 winner 'Lost Voice Guy' Lee Ridley.

Co-ordinator Lucy Parker said: "It has grown so much since Roar started in 2015 that for the first time we have decided to spread the event over two days.

"It also means there is a split between the interactive sessions and live performances."

She added: "There is so much going on this year it really will have a festival feeling."

Things kick off on Friday with a vast array of workshops and opportunities for youngsters to get involved, from making slime with Science Oxford and gaining circus skills with Cirque Bijou and Diverse City, to learning yoga and meditation in the wellbeing area and getting a carnival masterclass from Oxford dance group Sol Samba.

Then on Saturday it is all about inspirational performances from disabled artists, with those attending including Blink Dance Theatre, Handy Voices and the Cowley festival's organising committee of young disabled people the Roarsomes.

There will also be a special appearance by the Britain's Got Talent winner, who cannot speak due to cerebral palsy and will be performing his stand up routine, as well as comedian Juliette Burton fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe.

Ms Parker, who has organised the festival with Ark T Centre director Emma O'Shaughnessy and assistant co-ordinator Minky Hoyer-Millar, said: "The idea is that it gives the young people a chance to see performers who show them what they can do. I think the popularity of Roar shows how much there was a need for something like it in Oxford."

Across both days there will also be food from Yemaya's Kitchen, which is set to takeover the Ark T Centre cafe from next month.

To make the event as accessible as possible there will be British Sign Language interpreters there on the Friday. There is also a step free access throughout the building, with an accessible toilet in the main building and blue badge parking.

There will be a designated quiet space in the building so people can enjoy accessing the workshops and performances at the right time for them.
