A BICESTER Big Mac could soon be within reach for residents after work started this week on the new McDonald’s drive-thru.

Diggers have rolled on to the site off the A41, next to the Tesco superstore, where plans were approved for the new takeaway late last year.

It will be the only Mcdonald’s in Bicester and follows long-running calls for the fast-food franchise to come to the town, with residents complaining of long journeys to Oxford or further afield.

Construction teams started work on Tuesday on the two-storey restaurant.

A McDonald's spokesman said: "“We can confirm that we have started work on-site in Bicester, and aim to open by the end of the year.

"The new restaurant will bring investment to the local community, and create at least 65 new full and part-time jobs."

The McDonald's will be built next to the existing Tesco petrol station.
