THE Uffington White Horse show had to contend with a day of miserable weather before the sun came out to reveal flying tricks, classic cars and a host of wildlife attractions in southern Oxfordshire.

Uffington’s two-day extravaganza was hit by torrential rain on Sunday but by Monday conditions had improved and the crowds returned to the 20-acre showground between Uffington and Fawler, near Faringdon.

Heart-stopping stunts, fairground rides and and a Second World War flypast were some of the attractions at the major charity event, which has raised well over half a million pounds in the more than 40 years it has been running.

The UK’s ‘top female airshow pilot’, Lauren Wilson, finally took to the skies in an ‘amazing display’, with the show saying that she ‘never fails to stun with her aerobatics’.

Adrenaline junkie colleague Jason Smyth, an ex World Championship motocross rider, also wowed crowds with an aerial display.

Thousands flocked to the event, with more than 70 indoor and outdoor pop-up shops selling everything from clothing, leather goods, hand made jewellery and ornaments, to cakes, tools, cards and paintings on offer.

Show chairman Ed Preece said: “Monday was fantastic, we had the weather that we didn’t get on Sunday. There was a very good number of people turning up, the sun was shining - great.

“There is something a bit different every year. I have met one or two people who have recently moved here and its nice to hear that they think its amazing that such a small town can put on such good show.”

Animal lovers were also spoilt for choice, with the horses proving particularly popular; while this year a Prosecco stand joined the traditional beer tent for the first time.

Elsewhere, the Ukey Dukes and Wantage Silver Band also performed live music.
