A COMPETITION has been launched by the Oxford Bus Company for people to nominate their favourite good cause to be highlighted on a double-decker bus.

Residents are being encouraged to enter a short video or PDF presentation about their best loved good cause or charity into the Brand the Bus contest.

The winner will have their logo and messages displayed across an Oxford Bus Company bus, which will operate on its City services.

The 10 entries that are deemed best according to a public vote will be shortlisted and examined by a judging panel.

Oxford Bus Company managing director Phil Southall said: “One of our core values is being socially responsible and central to this is giving something back to the communities we serve.

"Supporting good causes is a big part of this and instead of having one chosen beneficiary we invite colleagues to recommend organisations to support across the year.

"This has been a great success and seen us support numerous good causes both via donations and via engagement and participation in events by members of our team.

"This year we’ve decided to open this up to the public and invite nominations for a bus to be branded in a good cause’s identity.

"We have already wrapped a bus in Oxford Pride’s colours this year as part of our commitment to embracing diversity which has been a great success.

"We look forward to considering all of the entries and I am sure it will be a tough task selecting a winner from the many fantastic good causes that do such good work across the county.”

The company bus decked out in the Oxford Pride livery hit the city's streets following a launch in May.

Decked out in rainbow colours the dazzling City bus has been brightening up the streets.

Bus 367, which serves Abingdon and other City routes, was branded with the new Oxford Pride livery and the slogan ‘proudly supporting Oxford Pride’.

The Oxford Pride theme this year is True Colours, celebrating the diversity of the Oxfordshire community and aiming to raise awareness and inclusivity of all LGBT+ people.

The bus company has selected Oxford Pride as one of its chosen community and charity partners for 2018.

Oxford Pride videos have already been shown on 41 buses, reaching an average of 100,000 people per week.

For the competition, prizes will be awarded to competitors who have, in the panel’s opinion, fulfilled the brief to the highest standard.

The winning organisation will be invited to work with OBC to design a bus wrap featuring the brand colours, logo and messages of the charity.

The competition is not restricted to charities only - good causes that are not registered charities are also welcome to enter.

Deadline for entries is 23.59 on November 30 and further details and all terms and conditions can be found at oxfordbus.co.uk/competition/competition-entry
