PART of a busy road in Cowley will remain closed as work continues on efforts to fix a burst water pipe.

Rymers Lane has been shut since Thursday after gallons of water gushed out onto the road due to the damaged pipe.

Thames Water has said the repair works are taking longer than expected after the size of the hole was found to be a lot larger than expected.

Spokeswoman Becky Trotman said: "We’re expecting to finish midweek this week.

"We’ve repaired a much bigger stretch of the road than we initially expected to as the hole extended a long way underground."
