Members of The Oxford Sinfonia are preparing for their largest undertaking ever - a concert that includes Beethoven's 9th Symphony and Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, which takes place at the Sheldonian Theatre tomorrow at 8pm.

Founded in 1984, The Oxford Sinfonia, which stages at least five concerts a year, is considered one of the best amateur orchestras in the country. It has established this reputation, having performed both major works and chamber pieces and many lesser known works which are not heard frequently.

Over the years, The Oxford Sinfonia has worked with many well-known conductors, including Ian Brown, John Lubbock and Daniel Harding.

The members see their forthcoming performance of Beethoven's 9th symphony as a real landmark, particularly as Ian Brown will be conducting and they will be joined by the Philharmonia Chorus, who are considered to be one of the best choral groups in the world.

Soloists are soprano Naomi Harvey, contralto Elinor Carter, tenor Adrian Thompson and bass Lynton Black. They will also be joined by Antony Pay as soloist in the Mozart clarinet concerto.

The concert has been generously sponsored by Henmans Solicitors LLP, Chris Lewis Security Services, Five Arts Cities - Arts Council, and A & B Arts and Business South East Tickets to the concert can be booked by ringing 01865 305305.
