Men's Premier Section leaders Railway Social Club A were given a big scare at Shelley Arms C before running out 5-4 winners in the Greene King Oxford & District Darts Association.

Playing the pairs first, Railway eased into a 2-1 lead.

But Shelley rocked their opponents when wins from Terry Wood (2x180), Paul Champ (180) and Ray Pape put them 4-2 ahead.

However, the Railway showed just why they are reigning champions with Ollie Varney, Roger Haines and Barry Stratford reeling off wins to give them victory.

In Section 2, Morris Motors Social Club A recorded a 6-3 home win over Shelley Arms A.

Martin Andrews, Alan Hunter, Dennis Moss, James Harding and Chris Myers powered Motors into an unassailable lead to set up victory.

In Section 3, Red Lion edged out Black Bull 5-4.

Mick O'Leary and Richard Reveley were among Red Lion's singles winners before they took the pairs 2-1 to secure victory.

Paul Hudson starred for Black Bull with two 180s in his singles success.

Barry Wells and Pete Dodson helped Nuffield Arms A to a 6-3 victory at George Bar A.

In Section 4, Marston Royal British Legion recorded a clean sweep in the pairs to run out 6-3 winners at home to Cricketers B.

The match had been all square at 3-3, with Alan Pill and James Dace among the Legion's singles winners, and John Goodenough and Dave Hopkins helped to cancel out their efforts, before the hosts dominated the pairs.

In the ladies' league, Premier Section side Morris Motors Social Club overpowered Section 1 outfit Shelley Arms A 7-2.

Angie Pointin, Nat Creed and Iris Doyle gave the Motors a 3-0 lead.

Jayne Slade beat Pauline Bloomfield to pull one back, but Carol Harwood and Michelle Ewins clinched victory for Motors before they took the pairs 2-1.
