One Willow Way resident, a young mother-of-four, said the brawl that led to the stabbing erupted shortly before 7pm on the grassed area in the cul-de-sac.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Oxford Mail: "People were running through my garden, it was just like a big brawl.

"They were picking stuff up and hitting each other with it - just ripping bricks out of the wall, anything.

"It looked like a fist fight, but it ended up with one of them getting stabbed."

She was so frightened by what happened she called the police.

She added: "There were quite a few police, a riot van turned up and then more of them.

"It took ages to stop them fighting - it was pretty frightening.

"The police were going in trying to split them up, but they were still going for it.

"It took some time to control the situation."

The woman said after the brawl had been stopped, officers remained in the area until 11pm as forensic teams combed the grass area and gardens and used a sniffer dog in their search for evidence.

She said the incident had left her worried for the future.

The woman added: "I don't know if there will be repercussions or anything."

Other neighbours in Willow Way were told to stay in their homes while the search was carried out or to use the rear access to their properties.
