OXFORD'S 17th Lieder festival will feature nearly 100 events this October.

Song recitals, piano and chamber music recitals, choral works, study events, readings and masterclasses, are included as world class artists and emerging stars take to the stage in seventeen venues across the city.

Events for all ages, including participatory initiatives such as Bring and Sing, masterclasses, and new family events for this year, 'Cushion Concerts' and 'The Empty Chair'.

Focussed around European music at affordable prices, the festival will hold events in New College Chapel, Merton College, Christopher Wren’s Sheldonian Theatre, the Holywell Music Room (Europe’s oldest concert hall), the Ashmolean Museum, the Weston Library and the Town Hall.

Sholto Kynoch, Artistic Director of Oxford Lieder Festival, said: “I am thrilled that such an amazing array of artists will be coming to Oxford for this unique celebration of European song.

"It’s an apt time to celebrate music and language that ranges freely across borders, and the programme has a deliberately wide focus, embracing both the variety and the binding threads of music from all over Europe. Our fantastically wide-ranging series of additional events are designed to give audiences a genuine insight into the music, art and literature we will be showcasing from across the continent."

The event takes place between October 12 and 27.

There are a flexible range of tickets available from as little as £2. For more information and bookings, visit oxfordlieder.co.uk or call 01865 591 276.
