A 13-year-old girl and two boys were arrested after a 38-year-old man was stabbed in the back in Oxford.

Police were called to Willow Way, Blackbird Leys, at 7pm yesterday after reports that a man had been stabbed.

The victim was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with stab wounds to his back. He remains in a serious yet stable condition.

Ambulance staff said he suffered severe back injuries sustained by an unknown weapon.

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, they remain in police custody and will be questioned by detectives today.

A 13-year-old girl was also arrested on suspicion of the same offence and has been bailed to return to Oxford police station today.

Another boy, aged 17, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and for possession of an offensive weapon; he has been released on police bail pending further inquiries until September 3.
